The Urban School Food Alliance commends the Chairman Scott and the House Education and Labor Committee for investing in the health and wellbeing of our nation’s children

The Urban School Food Alliance would like to thank the House Education and Labor Committee, and particularly Chairman Bobby Scott, for the historic investment they have proposed in improving child nutrition programs. Taking action to expand community eligibility and improving the multiplier used in determining school meal reimbursement rates will help millions of America’s school children by helping more school food authorities provide the quality meals all children deserve. We also very much appreciate the support for additional school food equipment and the healthy food incentive initiative. Meals cannot be made if schools are not sufficiently equipped to prepare and serve healthy food from broader and broader local sources.

The Committee’s action is a vital next step in providing universal school meals, which have been offered this past year. The Alliance continues to support universal meals into the future.
