Meet Julie Fletcher

USFA Director At Large
Julie Fletcher, SNS, is the Executive Director of the Office of School and Community Nutrition Programs in the Maryland State Department of Education. Prior to moving to Maryland for the current position, Ms. Fletcher operated school district nutrition programs and held state level positions in Texas for over 30 years. Her last position was with the Dallas Independent School District, Dallas, TX as a Director for 6 and a half years. Ms. Fletcher also was Nutrition Director in Rockwall, TX for 15 years, and Greenville, TX for 6 years. She also spent two years at the Region 7 Education Service Center in East Texas, and a year at the Region 10 Education Service Center in the Dallas area. Ms. Fletcher has been a member of the School Nutrition Association and the Association of School Business Officials the majority of her career in school nutrition. She holds certifications from both organizations and has been active in the Texas chapters of both associations for many years. She has recently joined the Maryland chapters of both organizations. She is also a member of the American Commodity Distribution Association. Ms. Fletcher was also a member of the Urban School Food Alliance representing Dallas ISD during her tenure at that district. Ms. Fletcher has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia. She currently lives in Baltimore, MD.
