Meet Melissa DeAngelo
USFA Secretary
Melissa is the Director III of Food and Nutrition Services for Fairfax County Public Schools, where she leads the work dedicated to planning and delivering student-centered, nutritious, and culturally inclusive meals. Melissa has been a Registered Dietitian for almost 25 years and has always been committed to breaking down barriers and increasing access to health and nutrition to improve quality of life. Melissa began her career as an active-duty dietitian in the United States Air Force, building a strong foundation in community nutrition and operations while serving a diverse military community.
Melissa is deeply committed to advancing child health and ensuring equitable access to high-quality school meals. She is recognized for her strategic leadership, collaborative approach, and commitment to strengthening systems, all while always keeping the student experience at the forefront.
A dedicated mentor and team builder, Melissa fosters inclusive cultures where all voices are valued, and teams are empowered to innovate and grow. Melissa holds advanced degrees in public health, organizational development, and knowledge management and resides in Fairfax County, Virginia.
