WASHINGTON, July 25, 2024 – The Urban School Food Alliance is honored to announce that it has been recognized by ASAE’s Power of Associations Awards for the program “Hunger Does Not Take a Vacation.” The Alliance has been selected to receive the 2024 Summit Award, ASAE’s highest honor for associations that go above and beyond their everyday mission to undertake initiatives that benefit America and the world, in the Power of Community Support and Engagement category.
“Winning this prestigious ASAE award in the Power of Community Support and Engagement category embraces the value school food programs play, not only in a child’s daily academic success, but in the community as a whole,” said Dr. Katie Wilson, Executive Director of the Urban School Food Alliance. “The importance of a small non-profit organization, such as the Urban School Food Alliance, was evident as we assisted our school nutrition members with navigating the difficult task of feeding their entire communities throughout the pandemic and beyond. The partnerships formed during this time involved government entities, community groups, and philanthropic assistance, coming together to ensure families had food.”
