Over the past year, Pacific Coast Producers has been partnering with the Culinary Institute of America Healthy Kids Collaborative, school foodservice chefs in California and Texas, and with kid-customers to develop 14 new school breakfast and lunch recipes. These farm-to-fork, kid-approved recipes feature PCP’s family-farmed canned fruits and tomatoes and were designed with the demands of a school kitchen in mind.
The new initiative highlights the versatility, nutrition, and flavor of California-grown canned fruits and tomatoes, while supporting school nutrition programs with “speed scratch” meal solutions that meet USDA guidelines. By working directly with school chefs and their student customers, PCP and the CIA’s Healthy Kids Collaborative are ensuring recipes are not only nutritious but also appealing to students’ tastes.
